Former Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Professor Sukehiro Hasegawa, gave a lecture at the Model United Nations Conference All-Japan Convention held in Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo on December 27, 2023. More than 200 students from all over Japan heard the lecture on how to cultivate their <\/span>kokorozasi,<\/span><\/i> or aspirational will, to demonstrate leadership in order to promote peace and human dignity in the international community. Professor Sukehiro Hasegawa gave a lecture at the Model United Nations Conference All-Japan Convention held at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo on December 27, 2023. More than 200 students from all over Japan assembled to discuss how to cultivate the will to demonstrate leadership in order to protect peace and human dignity in the international community.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Kokorozasi<\/span><\/i> refers to the feeling of aiming in a certain direction and achieving a set purpose or goal. It also expresses one’s attitude of mind, one’s beliefs, one’s feelings for the other person, one’s gratitude, one’s goodwill, etc. <\/span>It often refers to the feeling of setting high ideals and goals and working hard to achieve them. It can be said that it is wise to become a staff of the United Nations, set a goal such as achieving world peace, and work hard to achieve that goal, which I myself chose more than 50 years<\/span> ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Professor Hasegawa himself has been involved as a UN official in enhancing human security and development with local people in several countries in Asia and Africa for 37 years in order to achieve world peace and human dignity. He said that he felt that his life had become richer by pursuing the noble ideal. In order to have<\/span> kokorozashi<\/span><\/i> or aspirations, you must first clarify your goals and ideals, and in order to realize those goals and ideals, it is important to make concrete plans and put them into action. He also pointed out that it is important never to give up and keep trying. In conclusion, Professor Hasegawa stated that by having lofty <\/span>kokorozashi<\/span><\/i> or aspirations, people can strive toward their goals and grow. He hoped that the students participating in the Model United Nations Convention would have lofty<\/span> kokorozashi,<\/span><\/i> aspirations. <\/span><\/p>\n
