The President highlighted Timor-Leste\u2019s peaceful democracy\u2014no political violence, regular peaceful transfers of power, and robust press freedom\u2014alongside strong relations with Indonesia, Australia, and ASEAN. He outlined ongoing projects: a Japan\u2013France shipbuilding consortium, a >US$100m solar initiative, capital coastline redevelopment, and multiple hotel developments.
\nIn Q&A: (1) On reconciliation with Indonesia, he stressed extending a hand to former adversaries and commended Indonesian leadership and the military for accepting the referendum. (2) On industrial cooperation, he noted Indonesia-centric trade, Japan as the largest investor, expansion in shipbuilding, renewables, tourism, port redevelopment, and extensive human capital programs.
